Schloß Drachenburg, Rheine River Valley

The Rhine river valley is decorated with castles running along the river, perched on cliffs and nestled in the rolling hills.  Some are newer from as recent as the 19th century and have been maintained in pristine condition, others are still owned by families and remain as an active residence. Even more have been left to ruin and sit overlooking the Rhine reminding those cruising along the river of the deep  medieval history of Germany.  Schloss Drachenburg is one of those “newer” castles that has been maintained and restored to its original brilliant beauty.  Most of the castle has been replaced and rebuilt over the years to give visitors the same lavish experience that the original owner Stephan von Sarter relished.
